WHY PILATES?

Pilates is a method of training that strengthens your body from the inside out, developing core strength and all the muscles of the torso first. Physiologically this is how the body is designed to work, core muscles contract automatically before we take a step or raise our arm, it’s how the body maintains balance as we flow through life. Pilates helps us to command greater control and balance of these muscles, and by doing so it refines our everyday movements. This is why professional athletes, dancers, and Cirque Du Soleil performers seek out this tried and true method of fitness. Pilates may be executed throughout your lifetime as it is designed to be modified for people with physical disabilities, people who are new to fitness and unfamiliar with their bodies, and all the way to extreme athletes and physique models. If symmetry of the body is what you seek, through healthy and balanced physical exercise; then Pilates is for you.

How Will Pilates Change MY Body?

Pilates training is very different from standard training as muscle groups are asked to stretch while being contracted during strengthening exercises. This creates an elongated streamlined effect, which allows for agility and speed. Think of a gymnast, swimmer, or ballet dancer; all of which require a wide range of motion, incredible strength, and speed. Those bodies work in a similar fashion as Pilates-trained bodies. And, Pilates is designed to complement sports-related activities and provides much needed balance to body which may become imbalanced from one-sided sports like golf and tennis.

I teach you how to better utilize your body so as to create balanced work-outs for yourself based on principles, not dogmatic routines. Therefore, you will have the tools to give yourself ‘killer’ balanced workouts with no equipment at all! That’s right, just you and the mat can be all you need! To add, you can seamlessly transfer Pilates principles of fitness, (as well as many of the classic Pilates equipment exercises), to any basic gym exercises/equipment. Though Pilates equipment is ideal for getting you to get in contact with deep intrinsic muscles, while allowing you to explore your full range of motion: it’s really the Pilates principals and order of how to utilize the body, that creates a balanced and ‘hot” looking body! That’s why our motto is ...”Be Hotter, Damn It!”.
